Pharmaceutical Distribution Business

A Local Logistics Structure Attuned to the Client Perspective

Becoming the leader in medical logistics

Suzuken has continued to build its logistic network with the idea of being closer to its customers throughout Japan. We were the first in the industry to develop a unique distribution system that allows for traceability of all products, providing our customers with a reliable logistics system that safely and dependably supplies them with pharmaceuticals.

Suzuken seeks to be the leader in medical logistics through distribution from the client's perspective.

Becoming the leader in medical logistics

A nationwide distribution network

Suzuken is conscious of the urgency with which pharmaceuticals are needed, and is working to build a distribution network focused on enhancing the level of customer service. We have distribution centers in Sapporo (Hokkaido), Toda (Saitama Prefecture), and Konan (Aichi Prefecture), with the Hanshin Distribution Center in Kobe (Hyogo Prefecture) . By 2010 we plan to open additional facilities in Kanagawa, Kyushu, Chiba, Okayama and Miyagi prefectures for a total of nine centers nationwide, as well as establish a product center to support their operations.

By developing a logistics structure in which ware houses in each area and region are placed closer to customers, Suzuken will be able to shorten product delivery lead-times and lower the out-of-stock rate, as well as enhance service to customers and achieve more efficient distribution.

The Hanshin Distribution Center

The Hanshin Distribution Center, located in the city of Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, launched operations in October 2007. Standing inventories of pharmaceuticals formerly held at stores in the Kansai region have been concentrated in the Hanshin Distribution Center, leading to a reduction in distribution costs, and reduced out-of-stock rates.

Introduction of the industry's first traceability feature also delivers peace of mind

Suzuken developed a new proprietary distribution system in May 2005 that provides traceability for all its products. Under this system, after a product is received from a manufacturer it is given a bar code with which the product lot number and expiration date are managed, ensuring the safety and efficacy of the products, and making their distribution channels clear to customers. Suzuken was the first company in the Japanese pharmaceutical wholesale industry to develop a system able to uniformly manage lot numbers and expiration dates at all distribution facilities nationwide.
